The 2020 Venice Film festival is underway, and it looks a lot different than it did last year. For one, masks are ubiquitous.
Cate Blanchett arrived wearing this one, which she coordinated with her outfit. The actor is this year's jury president at the film festival.
"We want to show it can be done, to be a laboratory for other festivals," Barbera told the Times. "Cinema must restart if it is to survive — streaming kept us alive during lockdown but we cannot do without cinema. Venice will be a sign of optimism and an invitation to not give in to fear."
Additionally, attendees from outside of Europe or "some European countries, such as Spain" will be subjected to "multiple swab tests."
Tilda Swinton is in attendance to promote her new short film La Vox Humana and accept the 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award.
The red carpet has also been reworked to be livestreamed so fans can see it, since they won't be able to watch from the sidelines.
