It is our pleasure to speak to the director of the film, Veronica Gillotti.



What was the inspiration behind the making of "Walk the Beach"?

The inspiration behind the making of "Walk the Beach" was my son when he was 3 years old walking the beach. Interrupted all that attended the beach that afternoon

Now he's an adult but I was motivated to make a small film for the memory.


What were some of the challenges of making the film?

The challenges of making the "Walk the Beach," the decisions of timing and which scenes hold their own memorable moment.



When did you realize that you wanted to make films and what was the first film project that you created?

I was introduced to the theater locally in my hometown. I helped paint scenes, build the stage. In college I studied theater. In the real world, employed as a legal secretary which enabled me to travel. In the downtime at work wrote one act plays which were performed off ,off, off, off Broadway. Expanded into writing screenplays. Wrote a novel, "Crowd Pleaser. Autism the effect on the Parent." The book self published and well received. Now as an elder and my son, an adult, I chose animation to promote my short film.


Which directors have been influential in your work and why?

Tex Avery, I enjoyed his keen ability to capture his audience. Mamoru Hosade, "The Boy and the Beast, he had a great understanding of relationships.


What genre of filmmaking do you like to work on?

I love to make my audience sense the emotions of the animated characters. I would specifically mix realism with comedy.



What is the most challenging aspect of making an independent film?

Will my "Walk the Beach" be well received. Always the budget is a concern as well as camera angles.


What is your plan for further distribution of your film?

My plan for distribution, to continue with the film festivals and use my intuition to make the right decisions on any other way to introduce my film.


How can cinema change the world and have an impact on society?

Cinema has the power to make changes in society. People identify with a character in a film. Use that character trait as an example of how they could bring attention to a cause dear to their heart.


What is your next film project?

My next film project "You're Stealin' My Lines. Sisters embark on a journey from New York City to San Francisco CA. The arguments, speeding on the open road, the bonding.


Why do you make films and what draws you to the language of cinema and directing?

Cinema is a visual language. As an artist visuals entice. Create a moment that will be memorable. This was my first short animation creation.
